Class Size Reduction Funding
This fall, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants, and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes.
We are pleased to welcome additional new staff to our school for the 2026-27 school year:

Ethan Jarrett – Grade 6
We are very pleased to welcome these new staff members to our school community! This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from:

Welcome Back BBQ 🌭
Today, we celebrated the start of a new school year with our Welcome Back BBQ for all students! It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying some food and connecting with friends and classmates.
A special thank you to Kevin’s No Frills, located at 10233 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB, for generously donating the hot dogs and buns for today’s BBQ. We would also like to extend our thanks to our School Council for providing the chips, drinks, and condiments. We truly appreciate your support in helping make this event a success!
Parking – Drop-Off & Pick-Up 🚗
Student safety is our number one priority.
Please be reminded that parking is not permitted in front of the school or along the west side of Willow Park Drive where posted signs indicate parking restrictions.
We also ask that families do not use the school staff parking lots for student drop-off or pick-up, unless your child requires access to the designated accessible/handicap parking spaces.
For everyone’s safety, please ensure that your child(ren) use the designated crosswalk when crossing the street. Jaywalking can be dangerous, and we appreciate your help in encouraging students to use the crosswalk every time.

Extra-Curricular Athletic Opportunities 🏃♀️🏀⚽
Willow Park School is pleased to offer a variety of extra-curricular athletic opportunities for grades 6-9 students throughout the school year. The opportunities listed below are available for students to try out for and participate in, depending on teacher/coach support, student interest, and team availability.
Students will be notified of upcoming tryouts through daily school announcements. Posters with tryout information and dates will also be displayed throughout the school during each sport season.
September – October/November
- Soccer – Grades 7–9, as well as experienced Grade 6 students
Tryouts are currently underway, with additional tryouts next Tuesday and Wednesday. - Cross-Country Running – Grades 6-9
- Basketball – Grades 7–9
- Wrestling – Grade 6-9
January – Mid-March
- Volleyball – Grades 6–9
April – Mid-May
- Badminton – Grades 6–9
May – Mid-June
- Track & Field – Grade 6-9
Track & Field team members are selected through Physical Education classes. Throughout the PE unit, all students have the opportunity to participate in the various Track & Field events, and their results are recorded.
Students in Grades 6–9 who achieve the top scores in the various events may then be invited to represent Willow Park School at the city-wide Track Meet.
We encourage all students to get involved, try something new, and take advantage of the many opportunities available to be active, build new skills, and be part of a team!
Video Surveillance Annual Notification
Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), specifically section 10(1) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA).
This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
