Save The Date & Spread The Word | Open House Jan 10/24

We are already starting to plan our Open House for January 10/2024 from 5-7 p.m. It will be drop-in format. Please join us if you are considering having a sibling join us next fall, and/or please share our Save the Date with families and friends who you feel might be a great fit for our program.

We plan on sending all families digital copies of our Open House invite and ACL Program flat sheet that families can share with others in the New Year. If you can help us out by distributing brochures to other families (dance, sports, neighbourhood etc.) you know, that would be appreciated. If you would like paper copies sent home, please reach out to Robin Phillips rcphillips@cbe.ab.ca.

Cookie Fundraiser Prizes

What an amazing job our WP families did selling cookies for this year’s School Council fundraiser. We were able to raise over $6000 to support the Art’s programming at WPS. Our top seller was Jade S in grade 8 with $810. Our top class was Mr. Phillips’ class with just over $2600. We handed out 4 - $20 gift cards to our top sellers in each grade and then we handed out 15 - $10 gift cards through a random draw for any students who sold 2 or more. Each top class per grade will receive a movie party with popcorn, cotton candy and more.  

Cookie Order Pickup

Just a reminder to families that ordered cookies, the pick-up for cookies is Tuesday. December 5 from 2:45-5:30 p.m.

Students with small orders can take these on to the bus. We will call students down at 3:30 p.m. to pick up their SMALL orders. Please connect with your kiddo if this is what you want them to do.

Wrestling Practice

Wrestling Practice Tuesday and Thursday from 4-5 pm.

Sprit Week

We had a great week dressing up in all kinds of different garbs. Thanks to Leadership 9 for putting on a great spirit week.

Food Bank Challege

Just a reminder that homerooms are collecting food items for Calgary’s Food Bank. As we all know, this year will be a very busy year for the food bank, so any donations will go a long way. Please send in food bank items with your kiddo when you can!!  Classes are rewarded with challenge points for donated food items!

Students Riding Other Buses

We want to remind our students and families that if your child wants to ride on a friend’s bus, parents/guardians from both children, must send in a handwritten note giving their permission for this to happen. We must receive both notes by lunch time. The office staff do not have time to be dealing with this via phone calls or emails.

Healthy Hunger

Check out www.healthyhunger.ca to sign up and purchase fun and delicious lunches 2x/month.  Healthy Hunger is a School Council initiative. Deadline to order next week’s lunch is Friday, Dec 1 by midnight.

All you need is name of our school and then you choose your child’s homeroom teacher.
